Yasmine& Idris
Two cities, one courtyard
Yasmine grew up eight streets from the riad. Idris grew up in Lyon and got lost in the medina on his first afternoon here, which is how the two of them met — she gave him directions that were, by her own admission, deliberately unhelpful.
We are bringing everyone back to the street where it started. Three days, one courtyard, and a great deal of mint tea.
Three evenings
Henna night
Thursday evening in the riad courtyard. Mint tea, a gnawa trio, and henna for anyone who sits still long enough.
The nikah
Friday at six, in the garden. Short, quiet, and followed immediately by more food than anyone can reasonably eat.
The feast
Saturday from eight. Seven tagines, a lamb mechoui, and dancing on the roof once the heat drops.
Getting to the riad
Cars cannot reach the door. Taxis will drop you at Bab Doukkala; from there it is a six-minute walk and we will have someone at the corner from four o'clock each day holding an extremely obvious sign.
June evenings are warm but the courtyard cools quickly after ten — bring a layer. Shoulders covered, please, for the nikah itself.
Come to Marrakech
Tell us which evenings you can join, and whether you would like one of the rooms we have held in the riad next door.
