We met at a wedding in 2020 — someone else's, in Surulere — and spent the entire reception arguing about whether jollof is a competitive sport. Tunde moved to London that October. Ada followed eleven months later, having insisted it was for work.
Six years on, we are bringing it home. The compound where Ada's grandparents were introduced in 1961 is where we will do ours.
What happens when
Introduction
The traditional ceremony at the family compound in Ikoyi. Kola nuts, prayers, and a great deal of negotiation performed entirely for the benefit of the audience.
White wedding
Church service at 11am, reception from 3pm at the Civic Centre with a live highlife band and a DJ who has been told, repeatedly, about the noise limit.
Your colours
Fabric is available from Mama Nkechi at Balogun Market — quote our names and she will know. Orders close eight weeks before, and she does not make exceptions, including for us.
